Our client is a manufacturer specializing in the design and production of hydraulics for power transmissions. They export their products around the world. They are currently looking for a head of quality assurance for one of their plants.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, you will ensure that existing standards are respected, while improving industrial manufacturing procedures. You will also oversee the compliance and integrity (quality) of products throughout the manufacturing process and when they are returned to the service department.

  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.
  • Provide suppliers, subsidiaries, and the company's other departments with technical support related to quality and the quality management system;
  • Approve vacation records; manage employee absenteeism and punctuality;
  • Evaluate the staff in your department;
  • Contribute your knowledge and experience to large-scale multidisciplinary projects;
  • Carry out various cost reduction projects;
  • Work in cooperation with the engineering team to approve product specifications and ensure a smooth transition from engineering to production;
  • Coordinate the management of product recalls;
  • Manage client complaints, conduct investigations, and apply corrective measures if necessary;
  • Coordinate quality review of products and of quality management system;
  • Manage deviation / non-compliance reports and change controls;
  • Monitor statistical data to solve compliance deviations at the source;
  • Identify, approve, and offer employee training to help them carry out their duties and reach goals; offer support as they carry out their work;
  • Plan the staffing needs for your department;
  • Contribute to the improvement of work processes using lean manufacturing;
  • Set in place activities that promote the transfer of skills for the sake of product quality at the work station;
  • Optimize processes related to quality management;
  • Make sure that ISO 9001 certification and any other quality-related standard applicable to the company are properly overseen, maintained, and monitored;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant branch of engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quality assurance in the manufacturing sector;
  • Highly knowledgeable of quality assurance;
  • Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Knowledge of concepts related to lean manufacturing is considered a very significant asset;
  • Available to travel internationally on occasion;
  • Proficient with standard computing technology.
