Our client is a well-established manufacturing company specializing in food packaging and distribution. They are currently looking for a production manager.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, you will primarily be responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and managing all activities related to the production and distribution of products in order to meet the company's general operational goals.

  • Plan, organize, and follow the daily production plan based on client orders, as well as communicating priorities;
  • Make forecasts, prepare orders, and maintain inventory of materials needed for production, including packaging materials, the necessary products, and supplies for the warehouse and production;
  • See to it that production methods are improved in order to optimize the plant's productivity;
  • Establish the supply, logistics, and shipping calendar (merchandise shipping and receiving);
  • Work closely with the members of the purchasing and operations teams and support them in their work occasionally;
  • Work alongside the management team to establish and monitor the achievement of production objectives (scheduling, managing run time, order control, quality control, and other standards in place, etc.) and warehouse objectives through the process of problem solving, identifying problems and finding solutions;
  • Maintain good communications and exchanges with the various internal parties: administration (order entry), quality control, human resources, reception, shipping, procurement, and logistics;
  • Analyze production factors (capacity, cycle time, urgency of the demand, availability of equipment, etc.) to best prepare and follow the production plan;
  • Take part in special projects for the quality control department;
  • Take part in performance evaluation of production and warehouse employees;
  • Continually work on improving planning processes;
  • Create or take part in the standardization of work carried out by employees;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • College diploma in business administration, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, production management, or other relevant education/relevant experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector;
  • Skilled in and knowledgeable of production planning, inventory control, and provisioning;
  • Experience in the food sector (an asset);
  • Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Proficient with standard computer-based tools.
