Our client is a large-scale company specializing in the processing and production of materials (derived from naturally occurring stones). They are currently looking for a plant superintendent for their factory located in the Montérégie region.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the plant manager, your job will be to coordinate production at the plant in order to ensure that the highest safety, environmental, staffing, efficiency, plant capacity, availability, and product quality standards are maintained.

  • Assist the plant manager in managing the plant in order to maintain the highest safety, environmental, staffing, plant efficiency, availability, and product quality standards;
  • Coordinate activities related to the operations of various production units;
  • Build and oversee a self-sufficient and efficient team within the plant that works in harmony with the other teams at the company;
  • Plan professional development as well as the efficient use and management of labour;
  • Make sure all in-house and external regulatory requirements regarding health, safety, and environment are respected; play an active role in the workplace safety committee;
  • Ensure that company equipment, assets, and resources are maintainted in order to maximize their long-term value;
  • Contribute to the success of company activities by sharing information and using internal best practices;
  • Put together initiatives aimed at improving the productivity and efficiency of the plant;
  • Maintain effective employee, supplier, client, and community relations;
  • May be called upon to replace existing supervisors and the plant manager when they are absent or on vacation;
  • Be on duty on weekends, in rotation with other members of the management team;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Relevant college-level diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Experience with factory operations (production, maintenance, quality, security, respect of environmental regulations, and administration);
  • Excellent communications skills (spoken and written), leadership skills (able to motivate, supervise, and train people), well-organized, able to process large quantities of complex information, able to solve operational problems, able to make decisions;
  • Skilled at financial management (analysis, establishing budgets, planning, etc.);
  • Computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft and JDE software;
  • Knowledge of French and English.
