Our client, a company firmly etablished, offering ready to use solutions of manufacturing and packaging for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, alimentary and cosmetic industries is currently looking for a mechanical supervisor.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the engineering and technical services director, you will have as main mandate to improve the performance of your team through your leadership, your analytical skills, your technical skills, your understanding of good manufacturing practices (GMP), in addition to supervising the mechanics / electromechanics of pharmaceutical packaging lines. You will play a key role in maintaining production equipment in good condition and optimizing it to achieve the highest levels of performance, quality and safety. As such, you will :

  • Effectively mobilize mechanics / electromechanics spread over three shifts in order to ensure a motivated, efficient, competent, versatile and empowered team ;
  • Increase the flexibility and autonomy of the workforce, update the employee qualifications grid, and ensure their training and development ;
  • Ensure effective communication of information between work shifts (stand-up meeting, operations meeting, etc.) and with support groups (quality, supply chain, engineering, etc.) ;
  • Create a sense of urgency focused on quickly and effectively resolving various production issues through strong engagement of key stakeholders and a rapid three-shift escalation process ;
  • Assign priorities to his team according to operational needs (repair, maintenance, improvement) ;
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency of equipment ;
  • Monitor and improve setup times as well as production start-ups ;
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects;
  • Maintain and improve technical documentation (setup sheets, assembly guide, etc.) ;
  • Manage and optimize the management of the mechanical warehouse inventory ;
  • Improve production performance indicators (health and safety, use of labor, efficiency, quality, compliance, adherence to the schedule, customer service, etc.) ;
  • Manage the annual performance of the employees under his responsibility and ensure at all times that disciplinary files are adequately managed using a progressive and fair approach according to organizational policies, the principles of fairness and the expected quality-effectiveness approach ;
  • Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor in mechanical engineering, automated production engineering, DEC in industrial mechanic, electromechanic, or any other relevant training ;
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience ;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in personnel management and supervision ;
  • Knowledges of bottling, blistering, cardboarding and bagging equipment (an asset) ;
  • Practical knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry (an asset) ;
  • Demonstrated leadership ;
  • Able to communicate effectively (within his department and between departments) ;
  • Possess skills in solving technical and interrelation problems ;
  • Ability to be independent and manage stress ;
  • Strong mobilization capacity (in his department and between departments) ;
  • Demonstrate good management of time and priorities.
