Our client is a company specializing in the manufacture of packaging products made for the food industry. They are among the North American leaders in their field. They are currently looking for a maintenance supervisor for their plant located on the north shore near Montréal.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Technical Director, you will be responsible for managing the electromechanical team and the production equipment maintenance team, as well as the plant’s infrastructure. In addition, you will act as a technical consultant, providing problem solving and support to the plant’s electrical mechanics and supporting operations to improve the reliability of techniques and equipment. Lastly, you will serve as a leader in process optimization initiatives with a view to reducing costs and improving our efficiency.

  • Plan preventative maintenance and regular maintenance work;
  • Improve the preventative maintenance system;
  • Constantly monitor the operation of equipment and systems in order to minimize unplanned downtime;
  • Support requests for improvement to the production equipment;
  • Manage Kanban for parts, purchases, and inventory, as well as the maintenance-related budget;
  • Solve problems within a reasonable timeframe and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Manage electrical mechanics and ensure that the collective agreement and disciplinary and other internal policies are applied evenly by yourself and each of the shift supervisors;
  • Coach electrical mechanics and manage their development plans;
  • Lead weekly meetings with the staff from each shift;
  • Be on call as technical support for extrusion and mechanical support on a rotating weekend schedule;
  • Be available to take mechanical support calls during the week;
  • Update the department’s indicators;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • College diploma or vocational diploma in a field related to maintenance, such as: college diploma in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or industrial electronics; or vocational diploma in automated system electromechanics or other;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, including 2 managing a work team;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Functional proficiency in English;
  • Experience with any of the following is considered an asset: extrusion, thermoforming, HACCP, maintenance software.
