Our client, a leading global manufacturer of technological materials and specialty chemicals, is currently seeking for an Environmental Coordinator for its factory located in the Montreal area.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Corporate HSE Director, your main mandate will be to support the management of the environmental program (soil, air, water and hazardous materials) and to coordinate activities related to environmental monitoring in accordance with current laws and standards. In addition, you will promote good environmental practices within the company.

  • Coordinate the implementation of the company's environmental programs (waste, wastewater and gaseous emissions) ;
  • Advise all areas of the company on environmental matters, such as waste reduction programs and wastewater treatment plant efficiency ;
  • Track legal changes and communicate requirements and updates throughout the organization;
  • Prepare environmental and energy consumption reports ;
  • Collaborate in the preparation of the company's ESG (environmental, social and governance) report ;
  • Collaborate with the product management department in the preparation of safety data sheets (using ad hoc software) ;
  • Participate in environmental assessments required as part of the due diligence process ;
  • Track progress in establishing environmental performance indicators ;
  • Participate in the company's environmental audit program and contingency plan improvement initiatives ;
  • Train and provide technical support to plant representatives ;
  • Track all required permits and clearances ;
  • Work closely with the procurement team to ensure sustainable purchasing practices ;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and interested parties ;
  • Coordinate and monitor the audit and non-compliance plan ;
  • See to the management of various ad-hoc projects related to your duties ;
  • Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, biology, chemistry, environmental management or other relevant training ;
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience ;
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and environmental management systems ;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills ;
  • Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written) ;
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector (an asset) ;
  • Experience in project management (an asset) ;
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team ;
  • Knowledge of health and safety (an asset).
