Our client, a company whose mission is to manage, operate and maintain various transport infrastructures, whose activities are divided into engineering, construction and maintenance operations is currently seeking, to continue improving the quality and efficiency of its services, an Engineer planning - inspection.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Research and Development Director of the Research and Application Department, your main mandate will be to actively collaborate in carrying out research and development expertise studies aimed at the implementation of innovative solutions. In particular, you will act as a resource person for technical and administrative support to managers as well as for the integration and implementation of projects and technological development opportunities, aimed at improving performance and sustainability of infrastructure. As such, you will :

  • Maintain good knowledge of studied locations by making field visits, performing asset inventories, and consulting available documentation ;
  • Establish the annual and ten-year program for deliverables to comply with the Corporation’s internal obligations and in coordination with the planning for major work and the program budget ;
  • Oversee contract management and execution with internal stakeholders as well as with the Senior Coordinator, the Engineer, and the Lead Civil Structural Engineer ;
  • Define professional services and deliverables as well as the standards to be applied and the preparation of reference terms for professional service contracts ;

  • Manage recommendations with internal departments ;
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables, analyze reports and recommend action ;
  • Facilitate corporate decision-making based on asset life cycles and data and while maintaining a balance between service performance, costs and risks ;
  • Control and monitor the completion of deliverables, which includes maintaining the required traffic flow while managing budgets and tracking schedules ;
  • Prepare authorizations for additional work and track work progress reports for payments to consultants ;
  • Group project investment needs according to the nature, location and timing of required work ;
  • Develop and maintain asset risk management analyses ;
  • Develop, prepare and update briefs, including cost estimates, for upcoming projects ;
  • Prepare and lead project-based planning workshops that include the Corporation’s various teams ;
  • Prepare and maintain the overall ten-year planning schedules ;
  • Track and coordinate future projects ;
  • Oversee the communications and planning coordination for projects with the Corporation’s partners and stakeholders ;
  • Launch prefeasibility studies in collaboration with the Project teams ;
  • Help update the strategic plan and corporate plan ;
  • Carry out any other tasks compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or any other relevant training in project management and/or asset management ;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management ;
  • Familiarity with standards for the inspection, evaluation, design, and construction of bridges and civil engineering and road structures (an asset) ;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) ;
  • Good understanding of the issues related to carrying out major projects ;
  • Demonstrate contract management skills, including overseeing quality control, holding meetings, and negotiating payments ;
  • Be familiar with construction safety standards and inspection practices ;
  • Be able to visit structures using fixed or moving structures, not have a fear of heights or confined spaces ;
  • Know how to use the following software: MS Project, Excel, Access, Word, Outlook ;
  • Be able to work on a team ;
  • Be able to exercise sound decision-making ;
  • Show initiative and independence ;
  • Have organizational skills and time and priority management ;
  • Be resourceful and curious and show a desire to find information ;
  • Adhere to the organization’s objectives, mission, and values ;
  • Mastery of written and oral French and good knowledge of oral and written English.
