Our client is an organization that has the mandate of planning, operating, and promoting public transit services in order to improve efficiency for transit users in metropolitan Montréal. They are currently looking for a buyer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director – Procurement Goods and Services, you will carry out purchasing activities and act as an adviser for internal clients and suppliers. You will analyze markets, identify and evaluate potential suppliers, develop procurement strategies, negotiate contracts, implement projects aimed at optimizing acquisition costs and supplier management. In addition, you will work in close cooperation with various departments, including operations, engineering, finances, planning, infrastructures, etc.

  • Develop procurement strategies and carry them out;
  • Translate procurement strategies into concrete plans and follow up on them consistently in order to make sure they are carried out flawlessly;
  • Coordinate the full range of procurement activities related to requests for information and invitations to tender including planning, draft documents of specifications and legal documents, as well as analyzing subsequent offers and recommendations;
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements and ensure that they are maintained in keeping with our business requirements and with applicable laws; follow up on said contracts and agreements;
  • Carry out purchase orders and follow up regularly with suppliers;
  • Supply management reports and monitor performance indicators;
  • Develop plans for continual improvement and corrective action;
  • Identify, analyze, and implement opportunities for cost optimization;
  • Take part in the development of the convenience strategy and oversee projects that require the preparation of business plans;
  • Develop and maintain cooperative business relationships with internal clients and suppliers, in order to offer clients an exceptional experience;
  • Provide support to internal clients with regards to overall purchasing strategies and act as a reference person;
  • Help develop and implement the methods, procedures, and rules necessary for the smooth operation of the service;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, college diploma in administration, or other relevant education and training;
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in procurement;
  • Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Participation in APICS, CPIM certification, and experience with SAP are considered assets;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
