Our client, a leading provider of logistics services, software applications and automation solutions within the Canadian health care marketplace, offering a range of integrated solutions through diverse business units, is currently looking for a Service Technician for its Automation Division.

Nature of position

Working under the Supervisor of the Service Department, you will be in charge of making repairs and complex adjustments to automation equipment distributed by the company, as well as installing new equipment at clients’ workplaces and training equipment operators. In addition, you will assist in training other technicians and support staff. You will also be responsible for providing technical support on the phone and in person, occasionally outside of normal working hours. Specific tasks include:

  • Performing repairs to and adjusting automation equipment at clients’ workplaces;
  • Performing preventative maintenance of equipment at clients’ workplaces;
  • Providing effective technical support on the phone during and outside of normal working hours (on a rotation basis with other service technicians);
  • Carrying out quality-control on various automation equipment;
  • Assisting in preparing automation equipment for shipping and receiving;
  • Collaborating in managing various departmental tasks (complex work orders, parts returns, inventory, purchasing, activity reports, etc.);
  • Installing various types of automated equipments;
  • Transporting, on an occasional basis, packages to the courier or the airport, in cases of urgent need or after scheduled courier pick-up times;
  • Attending trade fairs and industry events;
  • Ensuring that a clean, well-organized and safe working environment is maintained at all times;
  • Cooperating with staff from other departments in order to provide customers with a superior grade of service.

Required qualification

  • College Diploma (DEC/DCS/ACS) in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Industrial Maintenance or other relevant specialization;
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience;
  • A good working knowledge of automation;
  • Possess a car and valid driver’s license;
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
  • A good working knowledge of French and English, spoken and written;
  • Available to work from home;
  • Possess (or be able to obtain) a valid Canadian passport.
