Our client is a specialty firm offering engineering, project management, training, and consulting services in the fields of environment, industrial hygiene, mould, air quality, hazardous materials, asbestos, and workplace health and safety. They are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager (Building Sciences) for their Montreal office.

Nature of position

Working together with the Vice President (Building Sciences), your main responsibility will be to manage various building sciences files, such as the real estate master plan and contingency fund, building envelope expertise, building assessment (ASTM E2018-08 standard) and specialized studies in building sciences (infrared thermography, air leaks, dampness, condition of roofs, assessment of concrete, condition of indoor parking spaces, radon mitigation, etc.).

  • Meet clients, define requirements, and write up proposals;
  • Manage various contracts and respect clients' requirements as well as schedules;
  • Coordinate the work of a building sciences team and provide support in data collection, with the various tasks involved, and with the use of various diagnostic tools, measuring devices, and sounding tools;
  • Interpret and write up expert reports and issue recommendations and professional advice in compliance with applicable regulations;
  • Write up technical specifications to carry out corrective work;
  • Perform work on-site for clients needing complex work including diagnostics support and supervision of building envelope repairs;
  • Take part in developing and presenting information sessions pertaining to the services offered by the department;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • University studies in civil engineering, building sciences, construction engineering, structural engineering, or a related field. Any other combination of education and experience found to be relevant and equivalent may be taken into consideration;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a similar position;
  • Experience with hygrothermal simulations, airtightness testing, and watertightness testing of wall assemblies (an asset);
  • Infrared thermography skills (an asset);
  • Good communicative skills in oral and written French;
  • Good communicative skills in oral and written English (an asset);
  • Available for occasional short-term travel outside the greater Montreal area.
