Our client is a company specializing in the manufacture of equipment for hydroelectric energy production marketed to large public utilities as well as independent power producers across North America. They are currently looking for a project manager for their facility located in Montérégie.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for wholly managing projects from the awarding of a contract through to its completion. This includes facilitating the decision process throughout the course of the project, interpreting the documentation relating to the contract, interfacing with the client, suppliers, and in-house resources necessary for the realization of the project with regards to the schedule and profitability. In addition, you will also provide support during the tendering process.

  • Carry out any other tasks related to your duties.
  • Supervise the preparation of end-of-work manuals;
  • Organize and lead site meetings as needed;
  • Provide a breakdown of costs and invoices;
  • Settle disputes in cooperation with the various parties involved;
  • Establish a list of items for controlling costs and for project accounting;
  • Take responsibility for the profitability of the project from the time the project is taken on until its completion, including creating the project budget, monitoring it, and updating the projected profitability of the project;
  • Manage the full range of subcontractors (splitting batches, plans and specifications, calls to tender, bids, and meetings with subcontractors;
  • Prepare a detailed schedule (dates, key stages of construction, constraints) and manage tenders and related contracts (which may vary from one type of project to another);
  • Manage changes and directives, plans, specifications, and addenda;
  • Coordinate the entirety of the project from awarding of a contract through to completion;
  • Coordinate work in cooperation with the team in place and reach an understanding of working methods in cooperation with site representatives;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or any other relevant education and training in engineering;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years of experience managing major projects / administering construction contracts in the field of mechanical, civil, and/or energy engineering;
  • Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Good knowledge of power mechanics and construction sites;
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written);
  • PMP certification is an asset;
  • Available to travel roughly 20% of the time and free to do so without restriction in other countries;
  • Excellent organizational skills and a marked propensity for precision and attention to detail.
