Our client is a company specializing in the development and sales of highly adaptable advanced detection solutions, primarily for the transport sector (automotive, drones, industrial and commercial vehicles, etc.). They have an international client base. In order to pursue their significant growth, our client is currently looking for a Production Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Production Manager, you will act as the main technical expert in the factory and will be in regular contact with the company’s clients and suppliers. You will play a major role in launching the production runs of new products.

  • Along with designers, determine the control characteristics of product components, review supplier documentation and requirements, and validate the control tools/methodologies for both internal and external clients;
  • Support buyers and the Quality department in selecting suppliers, carrying out supplier audits, and choosing the right processes;
  • Plan for and address component obsolescence with suppliers;
  • Structure and analyze client returns, non-compliant products, production waste; oversee the development and implementation of solutions, using a structured approach to problem-solving, with clients and/or suppliers
  • Provide after-sales support to clients when they receive sensors that do not work according to the original specifications in order to pinpoint shortcomings in the company’s process controls; carry out corrective measures;
  • Improve the reliability, repeatability and efficiency of the company’s critical processes;
  • Oversee outsourcing or industrialisation projects that pertain to the company’s products as well as assembly and calibration procedures;
  • Identify and achieve substantial cost savings with regards to materials and sub-contractors;
  • Ensure that the purchasing/production requirements are taken into account throughout the entire product development process;
  • Actively participate in the FMEA process, and manage the DFM and DFT processes;
  • Develop and carry out, along with the project manager and production team, the overall plan to ensure the appropriate procurement, pre-pilot tests, and the launch of production runs of new products;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience doing similar tasks;
  • Bilingual (English and French);
  • Expertise in manufacturing and sub-contracting electro-optical, metallic and cast parts is considered as an asset;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (an asset);
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and Minitab (an asset);
  • Available for occasional travel.
