Our client is a large company that has been well-established in Quebec for a number of years and is an industry leader in the distribution of a wide range of products. They are currently looking for a logistics and continual improvement engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, your job will primarily consist of working on the continual improvement of processes, distribution infrastructure, and the computerized system in order to improve the productivity, efficiency, and profitability of operations. To this end, you will design, improve, install, and manage integrated logistics systems.

  • Establish diagnostics and problem solving recommendations;
  • Reengineer processes and procedures in order to get the best return on investment;
  • Monitor advances with detailed action plans;
  • Provide support for technological changes related to the automation of processes;
  • Prepare time and motion studies for operations;
  • Optimize the layout of departments using engineering tools;
  • Map out processes;
  • Review ergonomics of work stations;
  • Implement logistics control charts;
  • Conduct continual improvement meetings (Kaizen-style or others);
  • Implement quality control procedures to solve problems, maximize reliability of service, and minimize costs;
  • Work with the logistics staff to develop performance indicators;
  • Recommend methods to improve the use of personnel, materials, and services;
  • Apply statistical methods to determine logistical processes and staffing needs;
  • Study the sequence of operations and logistics flow;
  • Evaluate precision and accuracy in order to develop a corrective action plan;
  • Optimize workflow programs based on sequences of operations;
  • Oversee employees involved in quality assurance and control;
  • Manage and maintain improvements to logistics;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or in operations and logistics engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience with large-scale wholesalers or distributors and knowledge of operational processes for a distribution centre is considered a significant asset;
  • Practical experience applying continual improvement tools;
  • Highly proficient with the MS Office suite and with data base software;
  • Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
