Our client is a large company specializing in the rolling and casting of metal products. They are currently looking for a health/safety & security supervisor.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the regional director of human resources, your job will be to oversee the management of health, safety, and security side of things, as well as supporting the organization in reaching all its health and safety objectives and in all its organization decisions.

  • Lead health and safety meetings, taking care of agendas and minutes, as well as following up on various issues;
  • Responsible for any communications involving a health and safety aspect;
  • Take part in many meetings involving workplace health and safety (coordination meetings, production meetings, monthly meetings of North America health and safety members, etc.);
  • In charge of any communication with the prevention mutual regarding health and safety files;
  • Provide support for all of the organization’s projects; especially the health and safety aspect of each project;
  • Responsible for statistical reports on health and safety (HRHFM, ZOOM, Collaborative Workplace, etc.);
  • Support the company’s health and safety standards;
  • Responsible for the prevention program (drafting, monitoring, and updating it);
  • Provide support for supervisors and assistant supervisors of all departments in their work in order to increase their awareness of the health and safety aspects of their work;
  • Responsible for any communication with the health and safety board authorities, the local community service centre (prevention program), and other parties involved in health and safety;
  • Responsible for safety in the case of special events at the Montreal-East plant (family visits, visits from other companies);
  • Responsible for the purchase of health and safety equipment and for keeping track of said equipment;
  • Support the prevention representative, working with him on certain aspects of health and safety;
  • Contribute to internal quality audits (ISO);
  • Promote safety with all workers and oversee health and safety training for certain sectors of the plant;
  • In charge of critical task analyses and conservative work methods and health and safety procedures (application of them and corrections to them);
  • Contribute to the work of the human resources department (statistical reports, medical expertise);
  • Responsible for drafting an action plan and updating all health and safety training programs;
  • Support and contribute to inquiry reports in the event of a workplace incident or accident;
  • Responsible for monitoring all health, safety, and security audits and taking part in North America health and safety audits;

Required qualification

  • Relevant health and safety training;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant health and safety experience;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations relating to workplace accidents and occupational illnesses;
  • Experience in the manufacturing field;
  • Knowledge of computers (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
