Our client, a building consulting firm offering services in the fields of risk prevention, damage assessment after disaster and legal building expertise (residentials, multi-units, condominiums, commercials, institutional) for customers mainly composed of insurers, law firms, differents government authorities and individuals, is currently looking for a building expert.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the direction, you will have to proceed various inspections and expertise, regarding different issues affecting residential buildings, condominiums, and light commercials buildings, to prepare expertise reports, participate in the resolution of contentious cases, in addition to acting when necessary, as an expert witness. As such, you will :

  • Meet the client to identify problems and gather relevant information ;
  • Determine the causes of damages or defects ;
  • Define the consequences of those damages or defects ;
  • Gather the necessary information to prove the merits of the problems and consequences ;
  • Complete the files by using the best methods that meet the needs (analysis, laboratory, calculs, simulations, plans and drawings, codes and standards research, etc.) ;
  • Establish correction procedures ;
  • Present a verbal report to the client of the first proceedings and impressions ;
  • Write a report describing the mandate, the methods used and the corrective work required ;
  • Perform plans, quotes and cost repair estimations ;
  • Collaborate with other advisers, in the analysis, revision and study of certain files and/or special projects ;
  • Act as technical advisor beside the lawers clientele, buildings managers, insurers and claims adjusters ;
  • Participate in lawsuits when necessary ;
  • Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor in civil engineering, construction engineering, or any other relevant training ;
  • Member of l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in building field ;
  • Functional bilingualism ( french and english written and spoken) ;
  • Excellent writing skills ;
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle ;
  • Proficiency in usuals IT tools.
