Director of Quality and R&D

Our client is a manufacturing company that has been firmly established in Québec for over 65 years. They specialize in the development and manufacture of products for the residential construction sector. They are currently looking for a Director of Quality and R&D for their state-of-the-art factory.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the head of business development, your job will be to manage product development, to oversee standards and tests, and to maintain quality assurance for the company as a whole.

• Carry out any other task related to your duties.
• Carry out research and apply for grants for R&D projects;
• Prepare and manage budgets for your departments;
• Serve as the technical point man with suppliers;
• Be responsible for various meetings and committees;
• Ensure that products being bid upon respect the Building Code and other specified requirements;
• Manage the product development process and implement project management;
• Be responsible for product quality during the development, manufacture, and repair phases;
• Help with recruitment and with welcoming and helping new employees integrate into your team, and oversee the training they receive for their position, as well as their performance evaluations;
• Manage staff and control the department’s research and development, design, and quality activities;
• Provide technical support to the production teams by developing and implementing engineering solutions;

Required qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
• Proficient with standard computer-based tools;
• Fluent French and excellent written communication skills;
• Knowledge of the Québec Building Code and the doors and windows sector is considered a significant asset;
• Functional proficiency in spoken and written English;
• Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (an asset).
