Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in the manufacture of specialized nonwoven materials. They are among the leaders in their field in North America and serve an international client base. They are currently looking for a Head of IT.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Vice-president, Operations, your job will be to plan, organize, and coordinate the full range of IT activities for the company's needs, to identify opportunities to make improvements, and to foster the implementation of best practices in the development of technological solutions.

  • Carry out any other tasks related to your duties.
  • Perform a technology watch;
  • Manage the telephone network;
  • Oversee the coherency of information systems and the integration of various applications, in cooperation with super-users;
  • Work with the IT support agent to provide level 1 support to users; provide level 2 support;
  • Oversee the availability, performance, and integrity of all computer systems and infrastructures in a continuous multi-site production environment;
  • Supervise work done by subcontractors in carrying out projects;
  • Set out deadlines and costs for projects and plan the budget allotments for projects;
  • Manage and plan activities related to your projects and the various people involved;
  • Apply good practice to project management;
  • Carry out studies and analyses in cooperation with the various departments in order to issue recommendations on equipment choice and technological solutions;
  • Supervise the IT team (3 to 4 people);
  • Determine and/or clarify objectives, budget, and priority level for project requests;
  • Select and approve purchases for the IT department, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor agreements;
  • Monitor progress on projects and annual investment expenditures;
  • Chart out the direction for the IT department, based on the direction the company is taking and its needs;

Required qualification

  • Hold a university undergraduate diploma in computer science or business data processing, or a college diploma in computer engineering, or any other relevant education and training;
  • Highly knowledgeable of the best practices in IT management;
  • Highly knowledgeable of Windows and VMWare environments;
  • Knowledgeable of computer infrastructure, including local networks, extended networks, intranets and Internet, switches, routers, and firewalls;
  • Any certifications are considered an asset (MCITP, MSCE, etc.);
  • Well-acquainted with conventional, digital, and IP telephone systems;
  • Familiar with iOS and Android mobile products (an asset);
  • Knowledge of JDE and SharePoint is considered an asset;
  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Leadership, autonomy, organization, result-oriented, and client-oriented.
