Our client, an institution of higher education, research and studies, firmly established in the region of Quebec and Montreal and having other regional establishments, is currently looking for a computer technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Information Technology Department Director, you will have as main mandate to carry out various technical work related to the installation, maintenance, use and supply of computer equipment as well as the day-to-day operations of your unit. You will provide troubleshooting, support, set-up, maintenance of computers, servers and network equipment. In addition, you will have to collaborate on several technological projects (eg: implementation of a mobility management tool, a continuous security posture, repositioning of the telecommunications network, etc.). As such, you will :

  • Provide customer service and establish intervention priorities according to service requests (incidents, service requests, information requests, etc) and update the information relating to the interventions carried out in the requests ;
  • Provide technical assistance (on site and remotely) in offices, classrooms, workshops and laboratories, in order to diagnose and apply the required solutions while providing functional or technical advice on devices (multimedia, web conferences, videoconferences, projectors, smart phones, computers, interactive whiteboards, tablets, etc.) ;
  • Perform the installation and maintenance of computers, terminals, physical and virtual servers, storage environments, telecommunications network equipment, backup / replication environments, programs and software essential for the operation of the workstations running;
  • Analyze and experiment new products in order to diagnose the cause of breakage and defects, perform tests aimed at evaluating the performance and durability of various devices and propose recommendations ;
  • Participate in updating the knowledge base (procedures, operational instructions) in accordance with the current change procedures in effect ;
  • Collaborate on various technological projects ;
  • Participate in the welcome, the support, the practice or the new staff training. You may be called to coordinate the work of other people having similar jobs and initiate these personnel to work.
  • Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • DEC in computer science, or any other relevant training ;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience ;
  • Experience in diagnosis of PC / MAC failures, laptops, printers, servers and mobile devices ;
  • Experience in design, implementation and support in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory (Azure), GPO, DNS, DHCP, Terminal Server, RDS, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM / WSUS), Intune, PowerShell environments ;
  • Experience in the O365, Azure, Intune et Exchange Online environment ;
  • Experience in the design, implementation and support of telecommunications infrastructure (firewalls, switches, dispatchers) ;
  • Knowledges of conference technologies WEB ZOOM and MS TEAMS ;
  • Knowledges of virtualization technology (VMware) and storage (SAN, NAS) ;
  • Availability to work on a schedule from 11am to 7pm.
