Our client is a dynamic young construction company, specializing in the renovation, development, and construction of buildings for the commercial and residential sectors. They also offer their clients architecture, design, and engineering services. They are currently looking for a project supervisor to contribute to the company’s ongoing growth.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, your job will be to plan, organize, oversee, and monitor work done on various renovation, development, and building construction projects, as well as contributing to project cost estimates when needed.

  • See projects through from the awarding of the contract to final payment;
  • Coordinate work in cooperation with the superintendent (schedule, labour needs, equipment required, etc.);
  • Manage changes and directives;
  • Manage plans, quotes, and addenda; manage invitations to tender and related contracts (may vary from one kind of project to another);
  • Prepare all documents needed to publish invitations to tender;
  • Prepare a detailed schedule (dates, primary steps in construction, constraints, working method);
  • Publish and manage invitations to tender;
  • Finalize plans and estimates;
  • Analyze and negotiate tenders;
  • Prepare recommendations and tenders, and then obtain client approval;
  • Award contracts;
  • Organize initial meetings with the major subcontractors for the project;
  • Establish working methods in cooperation with the superintendent;
  • Make a list of activities in order to allow for a prevention programme to be prepared;
  • Establish a list of items for cost tracking and project compatibility;
  • Place purchase orders for materials particular to the site;
  • Settle disputes in cooperation with the superintendent;
  • Break down costs and prepare invoices;
  • Organize and run site meetings as needed;
  • Supervise the preparation of end-of-project documentation with the administrative assistant;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or other relevant education and training;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Knowledgeable of Québec construction laws and regulations;
  • Strong management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills;
  • Well-acquainted with current construction and renovation techniques;
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English) is considered an asset.
