Our client is a construction contractor, among the best builders in Montréal. They specialize in the construction of condominiums built based on distinctive architectural designs, architectural trim designs, and superior quality standards. They are currently looking for a project manager.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Vice President, Director of Operations, your job will be to plan, organize, manage, and monitor the construction of substantial condominium building projects within the established budgets and timeframes, working closely with the various involved parties from the company and subcontractors.

  • Communicate information to the crew at the construction site in the interest of effective management of the site and an understanding of design expectations.
  • Support the construction crew with various requests on a daily basis;
  • Prepare detail of design sketches for any solutions / implementation details for the work site;
  • Calculate quantities of materials needed in order to place orders;
  • Examine and approve shop drawings;
  • Review contracts and prepare purchase orders;
  • Assist in selecting finishes;
  • Take minutes of meetings with workers and subcontractors / consultants;
  • Supply the necessary information to the city in order to obtain permits;
  • Prepare preliminary construction budgets based on data from previous projects and budget estimates, taking into account unique elements in the new project;
  • Meet with consultants and subcontractors while construction is ongoing in order to work out various problems as they arise;
  • Actively participate in the design phase in order to produce quality drawings within expected costs and meeting regulatory requirements;
  • Assist in the preliminary design step with the architect;
  • Participate in negotiations in the contract-signing phase;
  • Analyze and compare bids;
  • Prepare estimates and invitations to tender and meet with subcontractors during the bidding process;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, in construction engineering, or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Familiar with construction laws and regulations in Québec;
  • Proficient with computer tools such as Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Experience with preparing estimates and bids and with awarding contracts.
