Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in the manufacture of parts for the automobile sector, including clients in North America, Europe, and Asia. They are currently looking for an automation and process control engineer for their state-of-the-art facilities.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services, your job will be to develop and improve various pieces of production equipment, to optimize automated systems present in the plant, and to manage various electrical/automation projects.

  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.
  • Set and calibrate equipment so as to constantly provide for optimum performance;
  • Serve as the go-to person for automation/control;
  • Suggest and implement new technologies such as robots, vision systems, quality control tools, and preventative maintenance tools;
  • Diagnose problems with existing production systems;
  • Manage automation projects;
  • Program automatons, robots, PCs, servo controllers, and user interfaces;
  • Create electrical and pneumatic blueprints and select the necessary technology (PC, PLC, drive, servoing, etc.), document and implement improvement projects related to the various production equipment;
  • Set priorities, oversee the optimization process, and coordinate improvement projects with the support team;
  • Develop and improve a variety of production equipment;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automated production engineering, or other relevant education and training;
  • Member of l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with automation;
  • Proficient in spoken and written French and English;
  • Highly knowledgeable of programmable automatons and the programming thereof, user interfaces, vision systems, and robots;
  • Proficiency with electrical blueprint design software is an asset;
  • Vehicle owner with valid driver's license, able to travel between both plants.
