REPORTS TO PLANT MANAGER

ENVIRONMENT

Our client is a Precision Plastic Injection molding company who manufactures plastic parts that are important for people’s health and safety. They function as a high precision and relatively short run manufacturer requiring molds on presses to be changed frequently in a time efficient and precise manner. Operating in a variety of markets such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, medical and pharmaceutical.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

Manages the following activities:

  • Supervise mold installation and assemblies to ensure best practices are respected
  • Responsible for the regulation and adjustment of the machines; mold handling and installation
  • Verification of repaired molds to ensure quality of the molded parts
  • Maintain cycle times; adjust times and record explanations of deviations as necessary
  • Ensure Q.A standards  are respected in response to customer non-conformance alerts
  • Responsible for leading the team in defect troubleshooting, root cause  analysis, identifying corrective actions and implementing those corrective actions within the timeframe demanded by the customer
  • Identify mold defects and discuss solutions with colleagues/superiors
  • Prepare and enforce preventative maintenance program
  • Collaborate with Tooling department, Production department and Quality Assurance when launching a new mold and parts to ensure conformity to customer requirements
  • Provide guidance to SET-UP supervisor in the performance of his/her duties/responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING DUTIES WITH LITTLE OR NO SUPERVISION. (CAN WORK INDENPENDENTLY):

  • Ensure compliance with the health and safety and environmental regulations associated with the work carried out in his department
  • Proactively focus on initiatives which promote manufacturing efficiency and productivity
  • Responsible for ensuring that all operational policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Responsible for the accurate and complete documentation of each set up
  • Ensure that all secondary equipment is functioning at optimum levels to ensure temperature and humidity stability during production (mold heater, humidity of resins)
  • Verify preproduction parts before submitting to the Q.A department
  • Solidly in sync with our  core values of Quality, Precision and Respect and proactively enrolls team members in this culture
  • Responsible for and participates in the promotion and support of continuous improvement practices using available data and key performances indicators
  • Complete transaction reports in accordance with their requirements
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in the workforce through recruitment, assessment and training
  • Communicate effectively with his/her immediate supervisor during the emergence of  new projects
  •  Ensure the maintenance of a high level of professionalism within his/her work team
  • Manage and evaluate up to 12 employees  under his/her direction including Set-Up Technicians and Maintenance Technicians
  • Represent and communicate positively management directives to employees
  •  Participate in the decision making of company initiatives
  • Willing and able to work alongside his/her team on the floor when necessary
  • Identifies learning opportunities for his/her team and acts on them

PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED: (e.g. lifting, holding or carrying)

  • Lift parts/equipment 25KG’s. Good physical dexterity. Can handle small parts (such as screws/screwdriver).
  • Can work with small hand or power tools.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed DEC, minimum requirement. Degree level education an asset
  • Technical Trade training or equivalent work experience
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in the precision plastic injection molding industry
  • Ability to work with MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook and Word)
  • French and English bilingualism (essential)
  • Advanced knowledge of plastic resins and the proper handling and drying procedures
  • Understand raw material spec sheets in relation to the mold specs
  • Able to operate all the machines in the molding department
  • Able to understand and apply inspection procedures defined in the inspection plans
  • Able to perform the duties of his team
