Our Client, a leader of devices' and parts' manufacturing in the Aerospace Industry is looking to hire a Production Supervisor / Machine Shop Supervisor (reporting to the Production Superintendent) to direct, coordinate and supervise the activities of a group of 15 to 20 Operators and Technicians working in manufacturing cells

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain a standard work environment including 5S principles, standard work flow and process control;
  • Promote a safe work environment and maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and  good housekeeping practices including the rules of the collective agreement.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives through proven CI tools and utilization of machine and machine tool technology;
  • Ensure machinists are operating to planned work schedule and meeting delivery commitments to customers, including performance to labor standards;
  • Assess and develop team member skill sets;
  • Lead continual improvement initiatives within machine shop;
  • Work with quality department to identify root cause of repeatable quality issues and implement improvements and measures to prevent recurrence of quality issues and minimize scrap/rework costs;
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop work instructions that fully document machine process;
  • Budget planning, adherence, and reporting;
  • Human resource issues for staff including scheduling, discipline, and training/development;
  • Maintain and report on capacity and machine schedules to maintain proper delivery schedules and internal deadlines;
  • Maintain and report on facility and equipment plans including TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and machine replacement schedule;
  • Participate as required in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100C and/or ISO-9001 requirements.

Requirements:

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in either Business, Machining Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or the equivalent;
  • Having Five to ten years of directly related experience, with at least five years' experience in a metal manufacturing environment as a Supervisor;
  • Having machining and precision manufacturing experience;
  • Experience in Aerospace / Automotive manufacturing operations is very desirable;
  • GD&T(Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) Certification/training and/or working knowledge;
  • MRP (Material requirements planning) System knowledge;
  • Programming experience (G Code);
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or Continual Improvement experience;
  • Quality assurance experience;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Should be Bilingual – French & English.

Work Location: Grand Montreal area.

Salary : $60K - $65K / year according to experience -  (Plus a 2.5% annual Bonus).

Starts with a 3 weeks vacation/year (2 weeks annual vacation and 1 week vacation during holidays).
