Our client, a Canadian software engineering company that develops intelligent decision support solutions, is looking for a developer HTML/Javascript.

Descript position summary

Our client is looking for a Senior HTML/Javascript developer experienced in building interfaces to rich Internet applications to join our development team. She is looking for an individual skilled in highly dynamic web interface development (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery). The HTML Programmer/ Developer converts project specifications and statements to detail logical charts for coding into computer language.

Ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, extensive CSS development experience.

Essential job functions

• Builds software applications – Follows coding standards, builds appropriate unit tests, integration tests and deployment scripts;
• Assists in defining software architectures – Collaborates with leads to explore existing systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation, learns the applications capabilities;
• Communicates continually with the project manager and project teams – Explains progress on the development effort;
• Owns success – Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the solutions;
• Translates designs and style guides provided by the UI/UX team into functional user interfaces, ensuring cross browser compatibility and performance;
• Contributes to continual improvement by suggesting improvements to user interface, software architecture or new technologies;
• Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the Development Team to both develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables;
• Produce project estimates of total number of development hours required, etc.;
• Communicate to the Project Manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to clients;
• Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities;
• Be actively involved in and contribute regularly to the development community of the CMS of your choice;
• Develop innovative, reusable Web-based tools;
• Proven development skills in jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 in a responsive design environment.

Position requirements

• BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience;
• Highly skilled at front-end engineering using Object-Oriented JavaScript, various JavaScript libraries and micro frameworks (jQuery, Angular, Prototype, Dojo, Backbone, YUI), HTML and CSS;
• Well versed in software engineering principles, frameworks and technologies;
• Excellent communication skills ;
• Self-directed team player who thrives in a continually changing environment;
• Strong customer service/client service skills;
• Deep understanding of CSS inheritance and how to use it to your advantage;
• A good ideology for managing maintainable, scalable and cross-browser codes across large sites;
• Development experience using extensible web authoring tools;
• Experience developing and implementing open source software projects;
• Self-starter with strong self-management skills;
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities;
• Asset. Development in Flex Spark 4.6 - Coldfusion - JSP - Hibernate – ORM;
• Asset. Social App Development - Experience in building social sites or apps (Facebook, etc.).

Additional requirements

• Some travel may be required ;
• Successful reference.

Languages

Asset. Knowledge of French.

Years of experience

• 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS;
• 2 years minimum experience working with jQuery and/or other JavaScript libraries;
• 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MSSQL and a good working knowledge of SQL.
