Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of custom-made industrial equipment made for a wide-ranging client base (aerospace, automotive, construction, materials, mines, etc.). They are currently looking for an electrical and automation specialist for their facilities in the south shore area near Montréal.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of R&D and Engineering, your job will be to start up and troubleshoot equipment on site for clients (in Canada, the United States, and elsewhere in the world), as well as to design electrical systems and automated control systems for various pieces of equipment manufactured by the company.

  • See to the start-up and troubleshooting of industrial equipment;
  • Start up operations of equipment on site for clients (local and international);
  • Be actively involved in problem solving and finding solutions;
  • Provide front-line after-sales support, under the immediate supervision of the Project Manager and Electrical Technical Manager;
  • In cooperation with the Team Leader for Electrical Production, supervise the assembly of panels and wiring of equipment;
  • Carry out design of electrical details of projects;
  • Assist in the production of diagrams for the manufacture of control panels;
  • Design internal arrangements of control panels;
  • Modify and optimize the programming of automatons (PLCs) and interfaces (HMIs);
  • Ensure that applicable standards are followed (Québec’s electrical code, CSA, NFPA, OSHA, NEC, etc.);
  • Complete materials requisitions and order certain materials or parts directly based on the complexity of qualifications or specifications;
  • Take part in various committees and various project meetings;
  • Establish good business relations with suppliers and partners;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or automated production engineering; college diploma in industrial electronics, electrical engineering, or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English;
  • Available for foreign travel up to a maximum of 25% of the time, with trips ranging from 1 to 3 weeks at a time;
  • Highly knowledgeable of programmable automatons and user interfaces;
  • Knowledge of electrical design;
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite.
