Our client is a company specializing in the manufacture of packaging products for the food industry, among the leaders in their field in North America. They are currently looking for a warehouse/shipping supervisor for their plant located on the north shore near Montreal.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the CEO, you will be responsible for monitoring the operations of the finished product warehouse and merchandise shipping, making sure these activities run smoothly. You will also coordinate said activities with management of sales, customer service, and production planning. You must make good decisions, ensuring optimal management of stocks based on established goals, all the while making sure that operations are carried out safely and reliably.

  • Coordinate the work of warehouse and shipping employees;
  • Perform daily inventory checks in preparation for orders to be shipped and verify the space available for finished products on a daily basis;
  • Strictly apply the company's instructions and policies regarding HSE and safe operation of equipment;
  • Contribute to improving the management system for HSE, identifying any danger that must be eliminated or controlled in the workplace environment or in the behaviour of staff;
  • Ensure that your department is always clean and functional;
  • Confirm shipping companies and scheduled pick-ups of products and prepare a work plan;
  • Confirm appointments with clients and with unloading agents;
  • Coordinate transport within the city;
  • Take part in production planning, along with sales, production, human resources, planning staff, and management;
  • Negotiate freight rates to reduce costs;
  • Address delivery problems (short shipment, back orders, etc.) with the clients;
  • Manage and monitor problem employees in keeping with the process described in the collective agreement and with management standards and regulations established by the company;
  • Ensure that equipment and infrastructure are functional at all times;
  • Fill out the goods receipt slip for raw product received at reception in the department;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Have education/training in a relevant discipline (logistics, administration, supply management, etc.);
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with warehouse/shipping management;
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Forklift operator card (an asset).
