R&D Technician (optics)

Our client is a company specializing in the development and manufacture of optical modules and components sold in numerous countries through a network of distributors and representatives. They are currently looking for an R&D technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Head of Laser Technology, and within an integrated optoelectronics team, your job will primarily consist of performing laboratory experiments to test concepts, prototypes, or new products.

• Carry out any other task related to your duties.
• Contribute to the improvement of working methods and tools;
• Analyze data, produce various reports, and update technical documentation;
• Manage priorities among ongoing contracts with a view to respecting schedules;
• Source components with suppliers;
• Interact with various members of the research group (technicians, engineers, researchers, etc.) for prototype development and experiments;
• Carry out optical and electrical tests on photonics on silicon chips;

Required qualification

• College technical diploma in physics or any other relevant education and training.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with optical assembly, with fibre optics (handling, splicing, etc.) and with optical measurement equipment (laser, spectrum analyzer, photodetectors, polarization controller, etc.).
• Ability to communicate in English (an asset).
