Our client is a large-scale international company specializing in the development and manufacture of hygiene products for North American institutional and retail markets. They are currently looking for a Quality Coordinator for their laboratory, traceback, repacking, product complaints, and raw materials sectors.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Quality, Risk, Workplace Health & Safety, and Environment, your job will consist primarily of applying the quality strategy to all sectors for which you are responsible. More precisely, you will investigate and solve problems and daily quality activities to be able to escalate priorities to the quality engineer for long-term solutions; you will coordinate and efficiently manage laboratory, traceback, and repacking activities; you will effectively coordinate the handling of complaints and the distribution of quality data and indicators internally; and you will take part in the application of quality systems and the maintenance thereof. In addition, you will ensure that production staff are trained and well-informed regarding quality procedures and standards.

  • Provide direction, coaching, and leadership to laboratory technicians, with respect to laboratory activities, product complaints, and non-compliant products and raw materials;
  • Monitor requests for laboratory analysis in order to prioritize and solve conflicting priorities;
  • Ensure that equipment and technicians are calibrated;
  • Manage equipment and chemical products in the laboratory;
  • Provide quality training for sales representatives;
  • Conduct validations of new products or processes;
  • Analyse results of validations and submit recommendations and conclusions;
  • Ensure that quality inspection plans for finished products are monitored and respected;
  • Update product specifications;
  • Coordinate the full range of operations relating to holdback and repacking;
  • Prepare files in order to be able to make the best decisions with regards to non-compliant products;
  • Address complaints and request credit with suppliers for non-compliant raw materials;
  • Request necessary corrective measures from suppliers;
  • Ensure that corrective actions implemented by the supplier in response to complaints and requests for credit are satisfactory;
  • Follow up with internal clients on the progress made in files relating to non-compliant raw materials;
  • Manage the supplier evaluation system;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field combined with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a college diploma in a relevant field combined with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Highly knowledgeable of ISO 9001;
  • Highly fluent in spoken and written French and English;
  • Well-acquainted with requirements for manufacturing processes, finished products, and raw material;
  • A strong grasp of statistics and data and process analysis;
  • Proficient with standard IT tools (Windows, MS Office Suite, etc.);
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, PVA, GVA, Kaizen, Statistical Process Control (an asset);
  • Excellent diagnostics and problem-solving skills.
