Our client is a well-established company specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of automated machinery for the manufacturing sector. They are currently looking for a project supervisor.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, your job will be to see automated equipment manufacturing projects through to completion, from the design phase through delivery and after-installation support. You will work with the company's full team of professionals, in addition to managing client relations and controlling schedules and budgets.

  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.
  • Occasionally contribute to information collection and estimates for future projects;
  • Evaluate completed projects and write up reports in cooperation with the team;
  • Manage the quality program for the project and ensure that industrial safety rules are respected;
  • Write up technical documents for R&D;
  • Write up service, maintenance, and training manuals;
  • Help with the start-up of equipment and contribute to manufacturing and assembly work;
  • Oversee design reviews in order to determine the components vis-à-vis the needs relating to the project;
  • As needed, carry out 3D design and modelling of custom machinery, assembly, and sub-assembly, and produce 2D manufacturing drawings;
  • Conduct visits and data collection with client and take part in project launch meetings;
  • Bring forward recommendations for the optimal use of resources (material, financial, and human) in the design/installation sector;
  • Work closely with the other people involved and make sure that efficient communication takes place in the following areas: electrical, mechanical, assembly, tooling, purchasing, and sales;
  • Provide technical support to clients, helping solve problems;
  • Take part in the negotiation and awarding of contracts to subcontractors;
  • Help establish the schedule, provide technical supervision for designers and draftsmen, monitor the progress of the work, and control costs for your projects;
  • Plan all the steps of your projects and actively contribute to manufacturing and installation cost estimates;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, automated production engineering, or other relevant education and training;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Highly knowledgeable of the field of automation, of machine and equipment manufacturing, and of project management, as well as pneumatics, electricity, and mechanics;
  • Very fluent in spoken and written English;
  • Proficient with parametric 3D design software (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.), with Autocad, and with the MS Office suite;
  • Experience programming automatons is considered an asset;
  • Available to carry out installation work outside the province of Québec on occasion.
