Our client is a sizeable company, firmly established in Canada and the United States, that works in a variety of fields (pulp and paper and related products, wood products, renewable energy, wines and spirits, household and institutional paper products, and recycling). They are currently looking for a Production Manager.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the plant’s general manager, you will ensure that optimal use is made of operations in keeping with budgetary targets in order to satisfy client needs, in compliance with the division’s mission and vision. You will make sure that workplace health and safety regulations are applied, that performance is continually improved, and that strategic plans are implemented. In addition, you will oversee the professional development of your team members, as well as participating in the plant’s management committee.

  • Ensure that work is carried out in a way that respects regulations and objectives relating to health and safety, the environment, and quality;
  • Implement and apply the best practices to eliminate dangerous workplace situations;
  • Ensure that equipment operates productively and reliably;
  • Act as a coach to your team and as a facilitator in carrying out orders;
  • Manage your sector’s budget and track costs;
  • Mobilize your team towards reaching objectives and show appreciation for results;
  • Plan professional development for members of your team and manage the integration of new workers;
  • Produce action plans for your department (corrections, strategies, improvements, and development);
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or any other relevant engineering education and training;
  • Hold significant experience in the pulp and paper sector;
  • Hold experience managing staff;
  • Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Able to solve problems and make good decisions; a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
