Our client has built an international reputation and solidified their place as leader in their field through the quality and flavour of their milk-based specialties. In keeping with their growth, they are currently looking for a Quality Director for its activities in Canada.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Europe-based Quality Director of the Strategic Business Unit, your job will be to implement a quality assurance platform in Canada, in order to increase customer satisfaction and to significantly improve turnover and the profitability of the company in Canada. In addition, you will provide leadership for managers at various sites across Canada.

  • Set out food safety and quality goals, strategies, and rollout plans for Canada (including FSSC 22000 certifications); share them with all teams;
  • Manage, support, and motivate the quality team;
  • Manage quality and food safety for all products manufactured and sold by the Canadian division for the full range of its markets;
  • Oversee quality for the whole supply chain, starting with suppliers of raw materials and including all subcontractors;
  • Update procedures concerning food safety in keeping with changes made in European plants;
  • Propose and carry out plans for improvement;
  • Measure efficacy and regularly update the company's Quality Director;
  • Discuss food safety with the Canadian management team and R&D when new products and packaging are launched, and evaluate the compliance of product specifications after launch;
  • Apply key indicators of Food Safety and Quality;
  • Implement the HACCP system and ensure that it is adhered to;
  • Contribute to crisis management in cooperation with other managers, plants, and departments, in such a way as to protect the brands;
  • Ensure that adequate resources are available to meet the needs;
  • Set out the department's budget and monitor its application, working alongside company management;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in food engineering, food science and technology, biology, chemical engineering, or other relevant education and training;
  • Knowledge of the standard ISO 22000 or equivalent, paying particular attention to food safety;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in quality control / assurance;
  • Experience with dairy product processing;
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
