Our client is a specialized general contractor, well-established for a number of decades, specializing in plumbing, electrical, natural gas, and HVAC work. They primarily serve the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. They are currently looking for an estimator / project supervisor for their electrical department.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company administration, your job will be to produce cost estimates for projects for which the company has been invited to bid, as well as helping manage various projects.

  • Take part in the preparation of bids and estimates;
  • Prepare blueprints and specifications;
  • Write up and evaluate proposals for turnkey projects;
  • Establish work schedules;
  • Prepare and review bids;
  • Establish the costs associated with bids;
  • Modify bids as needed;
  • Carry out worksite visits as necessary, in order to provide the necessary details for project estimates;
  • Help establish budgets for various projects and produce various reports;
  • Communicate with clients regarding any questions about the projects;
  • See projects through from awarding of contract to final payment;
  • Participate in various types of site meetings (administration, technical, and coordination);
  • Take care of administrative work on site: reports, notices of change and/or extras or any other project issues that arisep;
  • Ensure that quality standards as stipulated in contractual documents are respected;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in electrical engineering, college diploma in building mechanicals, vocational diploma in construction electrical work, or any other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with construction electrical work;
  • Strong experience in the commercial, industrial, or institutional sectors;
  • Knowledgeable of the Québec construction code chapter V electricity;
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with computer-based tools such as Word, Excel, and MS Project.
