Our client is a world-class company specializing in the design and manufacture of low- and medium-voltage equipment, as well as in the production of renewable electrical power. They are currently looking for an engineer with expertise in metallurgical processes to work at one of their plants.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations and Product Development, your job will be to work on the new product line in development, to actively contribute to the design of and improvements to the new product line and to check the quality of parts and assemblies from subcontractors. In addition, you will be required to demonstrate strong technical skills, such that you become the primary technical point person when it comes to the manufacture of this new product line, in addition to sharing your expertise in the development of new manufacturing processes.

  • Take part in the design process for the new product line and help make improvements to it;
  • Develop requirements for suppliers and maintain cordial relations with them;
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and new products;
  • Make sure the product line will be manufacturable and that it will be competitively priced;
  • Coordinate processes both for operations and for quality control on ferrous metal products;
  • Take part in research and development projects to develop new manufacturing processes or new products;
  • Coordinate operations and quality control processes for alloys and welded mechanical components for the mechanical production industry;
  • Set out an inspection plan for materials characterization;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in materials and metallurgy or in mechanical engineering;
  • Master's degree in engineering (an asset);
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledgeable of strength of materials (ferrous metals and/or non-ferrous metals);
  • Knowledge of metallurgical aspects related to ironworks, machining, surface engineering, and metalworking;
  • Knowledgeable of physical and mathematical simulations of stress cracking of various alloys;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Good communication skills.
