Our client is a firmly established company working in the food processing industry, with state-of-the-art facilities. They are currently looking for a Director of Quality Assurance, in keeping with their ongoing growth as a company.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the plant manager, your job will be to take on the responsibility for the full range of activities pertaining to quality control and assurance for the products produced. To do so, you will do everything possible to apply the controls necessary for such a mission, as well as educating the various parties involved when it comes to quality.

  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.
  • Oversee ongoing improvements (creation and implementation thereof) of processes, practices, and procedures for the quality department;
  • Ensure that company policies, procedures, work methods, and regulations are applied;
  • Create an optimal work schedule for your staff in keeping with the plant's operational needs;
  • Maintain a working environment that favours motivation, accountability, and productivity;
  • Set out management tools targeting accountability for the staff who answer to you (scorecard, indicators, etc.);
  • Promote the company's policies, rules, and management philosophy in your day-to-day work;
  • Work with management to create policy for the quality department (organizational objectives);
  • Manage the operating budget for your department;
  • Create sector-specific performance indicators to work in conjunction with corporate performance indicators in order to improve the existing system and to track your department's performance;
  • Establish new techniques and new technologies in order to maintain the ongoing safety of products and to ensure that methods and techniques undergo continuous improvement;
  • Set up the necessary training programs and work closely with the other departments, especially the human resources department, in order to align quality training initiatives with the company's overall training plan;
  • Oversee the response to and management of client complaints;
  • Periodically report to management regarding product quality, based on the established periods;
  • Coordinate the various steps to implement and maintain the SQF standard and carry out internal audits and third-party audits;
  • Control the implementation and upkeep of HACCP programs and its prerequisites, of all of the company's procedures, protocols, and quality forms, as well as their applications in operation;
  • Manage the full range of activities of the quality assurance team;

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in food engineering, food science and technology, industrial engineering, biology or other relevant education and training;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a quality manager;
  • Experience in the food processing sector;
  • Functionally bilingual (English/French);
  • Well-acquainted with HACCP standards;
  • Proficient with standard computer-based tools;
  • Excellent communication skills.
