Designer - Project Manager

Our client is a company with a solid reputation that specializes in the design and manufacture of handling equipment for the forest produce processing industry. They are currently looking for a Designer / Project Manager.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Head of Engineering, your job will be to design, correct, and make recommendations on various projects and equipment assigned to you, as well as managing various projects.

• Carry out any other tasks related to your duties.
• Take part in client meetings as needed;
• Check and approve the work carried out by designers assigned to your projects;
• Carry out equipment start-up for clients as needed;
• Identify and suggest ways to improve quality and productivity and to reduce costs;
• Work closely with the other members of the department (project managers, designers, etc.);
• Produce the list of necessary equipment for projects;
• Analyze projects that are assigned to you and take part in project monitoring meetings;
• Select all components and design dimensions based on the requirements; calculate needs for power, speed, etc;
• Produce designs based on client requests;
• Read clients' plans and meet the requirements indicated in their plans;

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in mechanical engineering or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
• Highly skilled with Autocad and with MS Office;
• Experience working in the sawn lumber industry, as well as knowledge of various products and components used in the manufacture of handling equipment (bearings, belts, speed reducers, etc.) is considered an asset.
